Support Request: PC Login does not work after upgrade.

Description

We have 2 licenses on 2 machines. Both machines have the same issue.

After running the 8 upgrade downloaded from your server, the message said we had errors and had to reinstall again. I restarted the machines to clear anything else going on. I no longer can put in the master password to even turn on the machines. Both machines did the same thing.

Both machines, now, nothing on the keyboards work. Both machines are 2014 HP machines running Windows 8.

Any thought or ideas on how to even get in the machines to redo the install?

Thank you,
Pete

The master password for SiteKiosk should only be used in the case that the password that was setup in the SiteKiosk configuration file is forgotten. The password setup in the SiteKiosk configuration file and the master password are only used to close SiteKiosk after SiteKiosk is already running the on the machine. What do you mean by "I no longer can put in the master password to even turn on the machines." If the machine does boot up, what do you see on the screen? Which SiteKiosk version did you update from? Was Autostart mode still active when you attempted to run the update?

If SiteKiosk has locked the keyboard at the login screen, you can try the following key combinations to unlock it:

Use the first combo then the second to unlock:

Key combination 1
Ctrl left + Shift right + Backspace

Key combination 2
Alt left + Shift right + Del

I contacted telephone support. After your telephone support person told me this could not be a Sitekiosk issue, I went through your tickets from YEARS gone by and found that this has indeed been an issue for others, however it shows itself in other forms. The most common I found was people not being access Safe Mode after this lockout.

I am still hunting...

What was the original error message you had before you tried to reinstall? When you say "lockout" are you referring to the keyboard input now responding? If you can still use the mouse, you can also activate the Windows onscreen keyboard on the login screen to enter your Windows user name and password to login. Did you try the key combinations I posted?
