Support Request: No Video Playing when connected to a YouTube Site (black screen)

Description

Hi;

Can connect to the Youtube site and see the timeline progression bar with small shot of the video screen and time position under the main window but no video shows up no matter what area of the video you go to.

We want to allow only a few Youtube sites for training videos and restrict the rest.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

What is the operating system and IE version? Does this occur with all YouTube videos? Is all video playback affected or just YouTube? For example, can you play a video on Vimeo or other sites?

I have this issue also. YouTube plays from individual browsers (IE, Chrome) but does not play within SiteKiosk (either One-Time run or Auto Start).

I am currently running:

Windows 8.1 64bit
IE 11.0.9600
SK v8.91.3042

YouTube videos are embedded in a page on my website (http://flbs.umt.edu/videos). I am launching my page from within a SiteKiosk start page, with a button link specifying that address as an http URL. The YouTube video shows the initial video preview image, but all video is black after hitting play. I am allowing all websites in the browsing area, currently. Hulu and Vimeo videos play correctly.

Can you duplicate this issue? Do you have any suggestions?

Thanks!

I tested this with SiteKiosk 8.91.3030 and 8.91.3042 and could not replicate the issue. If you refresh the page using the refresh button on the browser tool bar does the video play? Maybe it is a caching issue on the machine. If so, try to resolve the issue by changing the following setting in IE outside of SiteKiosk. Open IE and go to >Tools >Internet Options then under Browsing History click the Settings button. Check the radio button labeled "Every time I visit the web page". Save the changes and test in SiteKiosk in Start Once mode.

Refreshing the page and changing the caching settings have no effect on the issue. The problem continues...

Please check if the Adobe Flash plug-in is deactivated Internet Explorer. If so, please activate it again and test.
In case you want that YouTube plays the video in HTML5 you need to uninstall Adobe Flash completely. If you are still having issues and do not require Flash for any other purpose, you can also test uninstall Flash completely.

note: As far as I know, on Windows 8 / 8.1 you can’t uninstall Adobe Flash. Windows 8.x users need to use Adobe Flash on YouTube instead of html5.
